Happy Hour Cakes started with a conversation in the pub with my brother. As origin stories go, it felt pretty on-brand. Alongside my design work, I run Happy Hour Cakes — a cake business creating inventive bakes packed with boozy flavours for weddings, birthdays and any occasion that calls for a bit of fun. Every cake is made to bring something playful and personal to the table.

Idea
The brand needed to feel as playful and personal as the cakes themselves — warm, a little heady, and unapologetically decorative. The visual system had to hold its own against the cakes, while giving every touchpoint a sense of celebration.
Making
The Happy Hour Cakes identity lives somewhere between a psychedelic cocktail cabinet and a vintage bar menu. It spans identity, art direction, packaging, social content and product photography.
Every commission starts with a conversation, usually about food and drink. I ask about favourite meals, dishes that mean something, and cocktails people love to order. Those details become the brief. Then comes the making. The cakes themselves are infused with boozy syrups and buttercreams — beyond that, you'll have to order one to find out.
