Working in London

A London design studio, run from the coast.

Ten years of my career were spent in London design teams — the British Museum, Art Fund, British Red Cross. Most of my clients are still there, and so am I, regularly.

Happy Hour Studio is an independent graphic design studio working with London museums, galleries, arts organisations, charities and small businesses. The studio is based in St Leonards-on-Sea, an hour and a half from central London by train, with in-person meetings and briefings in London.

Who it's for

  • London museums, galleries and arts organisations needing marketing, campaign or editorial design.

  • London-based charities and good causes running appeals, reports or awareness campaigns.

  • Independent London businesses — food, hospitality, retail, practitioners — needing brand identity.

  • In-house teams looking for trusted freelance capacity from someone who has worked their side of the desk.

What a project includes

  1. 01

    Meeting in person

Kick-off, key reviews and briefings in London whenever they matter. Everything else runs happily over email and calls.

  2. 02

    London experience, in-house

A decade inside London cultural and charity teams means I know how sign-off, stakeholders and print schedules really work.

  3. 03

    Senior designer only

You brief me and I do the work. No account layer, no handing your project to someone you haven't met.

  4. 04

    Clear pricing per project

Scoped and quoted up front, with travel included rather than added on afterwards.

Common questions

Can we meet face to face?
Yes. I'm in London regularly and build meetings and briefings into project schedules.
Where is the studio based?
St Leonards-on-Sea in East Sussex — about ninety minutes from central London by train.
Do you only work with cultural clients?
No. Roughly half the work is culture and charity; the rest is brand identity for small businesses and founders.

Working on something in London?

You don't need a finished brief or a fixed budget to get in touch. If something's on your mind, that's enough to start.
